Biography:
Dave Woods comes to Victoria having played a ton of baseball already. Woods is a 6'2", 210lbs catcher at Crichton College in Memphis, TN. Crichton is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the A.I.I.
After his senior year at West Lauderdale (MS) High School, Woods was selected by the Florida Marlins in the 42nd round of the MLB Amateur Draft. Opting to attend college, Woods signed with Meridian Community College where he was a member of the 2006 MACJC State Championship team. Following his sophomore season, he signed with the University of Alabama. Due to an injury to his throwing hand prior to the start of the '07 season, Woods was redshirted and that's how Crichton got him.
"Dave was a big addition for Crichton and possesses the type of size and ability that we are looking to add to our roster," shared first year Head Coach Marc MacMillan. "He hit .375 this fall and showed the expected pop in his bat. I look for him to continue to improve and be a leader of our team this spring."
