Biography:
(Victoria, TX) The upstart Victoria Generals of The Texas Collegiate League have announced that two players from Lamar University have agreed to play for Head Coach Chris Clemons beginning in June.
Blake Ford, a 6'5" righthander will fill a couple of roles for the Generals. Lamar's Assistant Jim Ricklefsen said that, "We use him out of the bullpen as well as a spot starter. He has a very good curveball and the sky's the limit with his talent. He has a bright future for us here at Lamar." He concluded stating, "both Blake and Garret Steward will really help the Generals this summer."
Personal: Blake Loyd Ford was born 5/16/88 in Birmingham, Ala. He is the son of Rusty Ford, who played in the San Diego Padres organization and played for the Double-A Beaumont Golden Gators back in the early 1980's.
Blake enjoys playing golf, fishing, and going to the beach.
HighSchool: Played for coach Clay Berry at Lufkin HS. Second Team All-District as a senior after going 6-3 with a 2.81 ERA, while stiking out 62 and 85 innings. Blake also hit .380 with 2 home runs.
Junior College: Spent two seasons playing for coach Chris Smith at Northeast Texas CC in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Posted a 7-2 record with a 3.64 ERA and 83 strikeouts as a freshman in 2007. Recieved a medical redshirt in 2008.
Blake had a 1-1 recorded for Lamar University.
