Biography:
Joining the Generals for their innaugural season will be Garret Steward.
The sophomore pitcher throws right handed and stands 6-2.
"Garret has a plus breaking ball and his fastball is in the upper 80's. He's been really good for us," said Ricklefsen. He concluded stating, "both Garret and Blake Ford will really help the Generals this summer."
Steward hails from LaPorte, Tx.
Personal: Garrett Dwain Steward was born 9/30/88 in Clear Lake, Texas. He is the son of Mark and Jackie Steward. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and watching college football.
Major: General Studies
High School: PLayed for coach Rickey Torres at LaPorte HS. First Team All-District and All-Greater Houston as a senior. Played in the Houston All-Star game. Finished his junior season with a 3-0 record and a 3.40 ERA with 32 stikeouts. He was 9-3 with a 2.20 ERA and 98 strikeouts as a senior. Also earned Second Team All-District as a catcher.
Junior College:Played for coach Chris Smith at Northeast Texas CC in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Went 6-4 with a 5.47 ERA. Struck out 50 batters in 47.2 innings.
Garrett had a 1-1 record for Lamar this Spring.
