Biography:
July 8, 2011 - The Victoria Generals finished the first-half of the 2011 Texas Collegiate League season in fifth place with a 12-17 record. All records were reset to 0-0 starting this past Wednesday as the second-half of the season got under way. The Generals are currently 1-1 in the second-half and host the Acadiana Cane Cutters from Lafayette, Louisiana tonight and tomorrow night at Riverside Stadium starting at 7:05pm.
The Generals, who have been injury plagued for most of the first-half, have added two new pitchers as they try to improve their depth to attempt to make a run into the postseason for the third straight season.
The Generals have added Ethan Carnes, a left-handed pitcher out of Texarkana College, and Jordan Harrison, a left-handed pitcher out of North Central Texas College, to try to bolster a pitching staff that struggled in the first-half.
Carnes, a 6’4”, 195-pound hurler out of Tomball, Texas, recently completed his freshman season at Texarkana and has signed to play at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville next season.
Carnes attended Klein Oak High School where he was named the District 16-5A Most Outstanding Pitcher and First-Team All-District in 2010.
Harrison, a native of New Caney, Texas, recently completed his sophomore season at North Central and is transferring to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette in the fall.
Harrison, a 6’1”, 180-pound lefty, went 3-6 this past spring at North Central with a 5.50 ERA over a span of 54 innings in 14 appearances.
As a freshman, Harrison went 4-7 with a 4.20 ERA. He had 66 strikeouts in 60 innings of work. Harrison was also named to the Texas/New Mexico JUCO All-Star Team.
Following his senior year at New Caney High School in 2009, Harrison was selected in the 30th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the New York Mets. |
