March 16, 2022 – With the 2022 Texas Collegiate League season just a few months away, the Victoria Generals begin to announce their 2022 squad as they battle for a championship in the Texas Collegiate League.  This week, the Generals have announced the addition of four returning players from the 2021 season. Adam Becker, Austin Ochoa, Brad Burckel and Kamron Snodgrass are all returning for the 2022 season. This will be the 14th season for the Victoria Generals as they take the field at Riverside Stadium in late May.

"We are extremely excited to get the 2022 season started and we are glad to have these players return for another season with the Generals," commented Mike Yokum, Generals Vice President and General Manager. "All of these guys really had a great Summer with the team as the Generals advanced to the championship series and with their added experience, they should really put up great numbers as we battle for the title."

Infielder Adam Becker,  junior from West Texas A&M and Midland native, returns after a solid Summer with the Generals in 2021. Becker hit .282 with 29 hits, five doubles, three home runs, 23 RBI's, 10 walks in 27 games with the Generals. Becker is in his first season at West Texas A&M after transferring from the University of Houston and is having an outstanding season at the midpoint of their season (as of 3/15/222). In 22 games, Becker is leading the team while hitting .449 with 40 hits, 10 doubles, six home runs, 42 RBI's, 12 walks and a slugging percentage of .787. Becker is the team leader in batting average, doubles, home runs, RBI's and slugging percentage.

Infielder Brad Burckel, a redshirt junior from McNeese and Lindale, TX native, will also return to the Generals for his second season playing middle infield for the Generals.  Burckel appeared in seven games for the Generals in 2021 hitting .292 with seven hits, one double, one homerun, four RBI's and six walks before a foot injury would end his Summer with the Generals. Burckel is off to an outstanding start at McNeese leading the team in hitting (as of 03/15/22) with a .379 average in 17 games with 25 hits, five doubles, one triple, three home runs, 14 RBI's, seven walks, an on-base percentage of .462 and a slugging percentage of .621. Infielder Austin Ochoa, a sophomore from UTSA and Rufugio native, returns for his second season playing for the Generals. Ochoa led the Generals in games played in 2021 appearing in 37 games, hitting .256, scoring 17 runs with 32 hits, four doubles, a home run, 12 RBI's and 12 walks. Ochoa, in his second season at UTSA, has appeared in nine games with seven hits, three doubles, a home run, eight RBI's, three walks and a batting average of .250 on the season through March 15th.

Pitcher Kamron Snodgrass, a sophomore from Wharton Junior College and Corpus Christi native, will hit the mound in his second season with the Generals. Snodgrass appeared in 12 games, throwing 24 innings, allowed 15 hits, six earned runs, 27 strikeouts, while compiling a 3-1 record with one save and a team leading ERA of 2.25. Snodgrass wrapped up the season with the Generals taking home the Generals Pitcher of the Year award and was an ALL-TCL Team selection as a pitcher for the 2021 season. At Wharton this season through March 15th, Snodgrass has appeared in eight games, throwing 11.1 innings, allowing six runs, 11 strikeouts, while compiling a record of 3-0 with an ERA of 4.76 on the season.

"A top priority for the Generals as we wrapped up last season was to secure these guys for the 2022 squad," commented Michael Oros,  Generals Head Coach heading into his eighth season. "Becker and Burckel were late additions for the Generals last season and came in and made an immediate impact. Ochoa and Snodgrass both were with us all season and really did a great job at their positions. After another season under their belt, these guys will really help lead the younger players heading into the 2022 season."

The Victoria Generals will play 48 games with 24 of the games being played here in Victoria at Riverside Stadium. The Generals will open the season at Riverside Stadium on May 31st as they play host to the newest Texas Collegiate League's franchise the Seguin River Monsters.
