The Victoria Generals took Thursday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 7-5 walk-off victory over the Brazos Valley Bombers to advance to the TCL Championship Game at Riverside Stadium on Saturday Night.. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the ninth when Roman Cariaga homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Cariaga collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Cariaga hit a home run to left field in the ninth inning, singled in the first inning, and doubled in the third inning.

The Generals got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Juan Cantua doubled down the right field line, and Cariaga singled down the right field line, each scoring one run to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Generals added one run in the second. Cantua hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 3-0.

A single by Beck Zimmerman extended the the Generals lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

Gage Kooyers singled to center field, which helped the Bombers tie the game at five in the top of the eighth.

Clark Scallon earned the win for the Generals. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking none. Brewer took the loss for the Bombers. The hurler went two and one-third innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out one and walking one.

Alex Renfrow started on the mound for the Generals. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two. Hogan Shelby stepped on the mound first for the Bombers. The starter allowed eight hits and five runs (four earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out five and walking four. Nate Bergeron, Jackson Ambrose, and Parker McGrael each appeared in relief for the Generals.

The Generals head to the Championship Game on Saturday night at Riverside Stadium. It is a Free Ticket Night presented by Interstate Batteries! Pack the stands with gates opening at 6pm with first pitch set for 7:05.
