Roman Cariaga drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Victoria Generals past the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators 14-4 on Saturday. Cariaga hit a home run to left field in the fifth inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the sixth inning, scoring two.
The Gumbeaux Gators were the first to get on the board in the first when Lane Sparks hit a solo home run to right field to give the Gumbeaux Gators a 1-0 lead.
The Gumbeaux Gators added one run in the second. Yuichiro Kumagami hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 2-0.
The Generals captured the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the third after Beck Zimmerman flew out, Keegan Demmer was struck by a pitch, Caden Callaway walked, and Juan Cantua singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
The Generals added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on one hit. Cantua hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Cariaga homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Ryan Dugas earned the win for the Generals. The hurler surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Benito Mayorga started on the mound for the Generals. The hurler surrendered three hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking none.
Sawyer Simmons led things off on the mound for the Gumbeaux Gators. The hurler allowed one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out four and walking four. Clark Scallon pitched one inning of scoreless ball for the Generals in relief. The hurler allowed one hit, striking out none and walking none.
