Biography:
Mark Hudson, the 2009 Texas Collegiate League MVP, has signed a contract to come back home again and play for the Victoria Generals this summer. Hudson, who is currently in his junior season at Sam Houston State University, helped lead the Generals to a 32-16 record and a regular season TCL championship during their inaugural season last summer.

“Mark was a huge part of our success last year and we’re excited to have him back this summer in a Generals uniform,” commented Blake Koch, Victoria’s general manager. “It’s always nice to have a local product like Mark that our fans can follow and come watch play every night.”

Hudson, a 2007 graduate of Memorial High School in Victoria, is currently the starting center fielder and 3-hole hitter for the Bearkats at Sam Houston. He is among the league leaders in the Southland Conference in most statistical categories, including batting average (.357), at bats (126), hits (45), doubles (8), home runs (6), and total bases (73). Hudson was recently named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week.

The 6’0”, 190-pound right-handed hitting Hudson played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Alvin Community College before transferring to Sam Houston. At Alvin, Hudson was a first-team all-region selection, hitting .433 with seven doubles, three triples, and four home runs while leading his team to a NJCAA World Series appearance.

“Mark has racked up a great deal of accomplishments at every level of baseball that he has played in,” said Koch. “He has helped every team that he has ever been on achieve high success.”

Last summer for the Generals, Hudson was in contention for the Triple Crown all season. He lead the league in batting average (.386), doubles (15), triples (4), total bases (75), and slugging percentage (.591), and finished the season ranked second in RBI (27), hits (49), and runs scored (29).

“Mark was without-a-doubt the best all-around player in our league last summer,” Koch continued. “He is a five tool player that has big league potential written all over him. We’re eager to see him back in action here in Victoria this summer.”
