The Victoria Generals bats came alive in a 10-4 victory of the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Wednesday night.
The Generals got off to a quick start in this one when Payton Robertson smoked the first pitch of the game into centerfield for a lead off double. Robertson would later come around to score the games first run on an RBI groundout from Jonathan Tapia.
The Cane Cutters would respond in the top of the second when Cole McConnell scored on a wild pitch.
The Generals would plate a run in both the bottom of the second and third innings, pushing their lead to 3-1.
The Cane Cutters would once again respond in the fourth inning when Ethan Lege and Jacob Burke hit back-to-back home runs to tie the score at three.
The Generals would bounce back in the bottom half, securing a lead they would not surrender.
Robertson had an RBI walk, followed by an Ambren Voitik RBI single to push the lead to 5-3. Tapia would follow with a sacrifice fly and then Robertson would dash home on a passed ball, giving the Generals a 7-3 lead after four innings.
The scoring would continue on into the bottom of the fifth when Seth Spinn roped an RBI double to centerfield, scoring Warren Laster. Voitik would tally his second and third RBI’s of the night when he ripped one into left, scoring Tuffy Dornburg and Spinn. The Generals held a 10-3 lead after five full innings.
Dylan Turner got the start on the mound tonight for the Generals. The young lefty went three and one thirds innings, giving up five hits, three walks, two strikeouts and allowing three earned runs.
Trey Valka and Connor Anderson worked out of the bullpen tonight for the Generals. Valka went two and two thirds innings, allowing one hit, two walks, three strikeouts and just one run given up. Anderson was just as effective going three innings, allowing two hits, two walks, striking out three and allowing zero runs.
Bailey Holstein took the loss tonight for the Cane Cutters. Holstein went two innings, allowing four hits, four walks, one strikeout and giving up four runs.
The Generals bats were hot tonight as they rallied 11 hits. Nobody’s bat was hotter than Voitik, the left-handed hitting second baseman went 4-5 and also drove in three runs.
The Generals will be back in action tomorrow night when they play the series finale against the Cane Cutters. Tomorrow is the last Generals home game of the 2020 TCL season and is also another FREE TICKET NIGHT
