Generals Cruise Past Cane Cutters
August 8, 2019 – The Victoria Generals scored early and often defeating the Acadiana Cane Cutters 12-1 on Thursday night.
The Generals would get things going early when Ryan Flores doubled home Zac Vooletich in the second inning. Jonathan Tapia would follow that up with a sacrifice bunt to extend the General lead to 2-0.
Jordan Johnson would put things out of reach in the bottom of the third inning when he hit a bases clearing three run triple to dead center field to push the Generals lead to 5-0. The Generals would tack on one more run in the same inning on an error by the Cane Cutters catcher Reed Roberts.
The Generals would continue to pour on the runs scoring multiple runs in the sixth inning and eighth inning.
Gabe Sequeria got the start and the win on the mound tonight for the Generals. Sequeria went three innings, allowing zero hits, one walk and striking out four.
Jonathan Jimenez, Carson Rollins and Reese Johnson all pitched in relief, tallying only one earned run through six innings.
Reese Johnson would get his first action on the mound in an impressive ninth inning. Johnson struck out two men and walked one as he pitched a scoreless frame.
The Generals recorded nine hits on the night and their pitching staff was terrific. Four pitchers for the Generals combined to give up four hits, one earned run while striking out twelve batters.
The Generals will be back in action tomorrow night to wrap up regular season play against the Cane Cutters at seven o’clock. Tomorrow night will be a free ticket night presented by Lyon Dell Baseball. With a win tomorrow night and a Bombers loss, the Generals would move in to first place and hold home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
