July 27th, 2019- The Victoria Generals were able to defeat the Baton Rouge Rougarou on Saturday night by a final score of 4-1. The win improves the Generals overall record to 26-14, while the loss drops the Rougarou to 11-28 on the season.
Deryk Serbantez got the start for the Generals, and ended up recording the win, as he went four innings, giving up five hits, walking four, and striking out five. Clayton Price came in for relief, pitching three innings, giving up one hit, walking two, and striking out three. Seth Campbell and Zach Smith finished things off for the Generals by pitching one complete inning each, as Smith recorded the save. Austin Haenzel recorded the loss for the Rougarou, as he went five innings, giving up seven hits, walking two, striking out two, and giving up four earned runs.
Payton Robertson lead the Generals in hits with two, while also tallying an RBI and a run scored. Jordan Johnson and Cole Taylor also recorded one RBI each on one hit, while Coby Potvin and Jonathan Tapia recorded one hit each for the Generals. Cameron Crawford and Austin Haenzel both lead the Rougarou in hitting, as they recorded two hits each. Alex Galy and Logan LeJeune recorded one hit each for the Rougarou.
Game two between the Generals and Rougarou will be on Sunday, July 28th, where it will be “Faith & Family” night. There will be a pregame concert by Clay Crockett & Nation of Believers, and those who attend the concert will receive free tickets for Monday nights game against the Brazos Valley Bombers.
