The Victoria Generals defeated the Texarkana Twins in the final game of the two game series 10-2. The Generals put it on early in this one leading 7-1 after only three innings played.
The Victoria Generals opened up scoring in the first inning, when Deryk Serbantez hit a three run home run scoring Tanner Roach and Jonathan Tapia who both reached to begin the ball game.
The Twins were able to get one back in the third inning due to an RBI fielder’s choice by Reese Durand. The Generals would quickly answer in the bottom half of the inning after back-to-back singles by Payton Robertson and EJ Taylor, Kyle Moos had an RBI double followed by a Reese Johnson RBI single to push the lead to 5-1. Later in the inning, Justin Barr would get another run across thanks to an RBI infield single. Tanner Roach would close out the scoring in the bottom half with an RBI groundout to third base.
The Generals would not score again until the bottom half of the eighth inning when Deryk Serbantez grounded into an RBI fielder’s choice. The scoring would finally come to an end but not before Ryan Flores notched a two RBI single in his first at bat of the night making the score 10-2.
Aaron Gonzalez got the start on the mound for the Generals, he lasted four innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out three. He was charged with one earned run.
Max Page got the win in relief in his Generals debut. Page pitched one and two thirds innings, allowing one walk, no earned runs while striking out three. Clayton Price, Brent Hebert and AJ Irvin all made relief appearances as well in the ball game.
The Generals bats were on fire tonight as they tallied twelve total hits. Reese Johnson, Barr, Serbantez and Moos all tallied multiple hits tonight.
The Generals will be back in action on Thursday, July 11th when they host the division leading Brazos Valley Bombers in a two game series.
