Serbantez Dominate in Shutout Victory At Brazos Valley
Bryan, TX – The Generals came into tonight’s game looking for their first win of the season against the Bombers after losing the first five matchups. Generals took advantage of a big four-run third inning to blank the Bombers 7-0. Solid balance of timely hitting to go along with dominate pitching was key to the much needed win over the Bombers.
The Generals found offense up and down the lineup getting hits from six of the nine hitters in the lineup. Payton Robertson, Ryan Flores and Jose Diaz led the way with multi-hit games including a solo shot over the right field fence by Flores in the big third inning. Robertson reached base in all four of his plate appearances with a pair of hits to go along with two walks
Generals starting pitcher Deryk Serbantez was masterful on the mound keeping the Bombers off balanced all night with seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight Bombers. AJ Irvin, returned from injury making his first appearance in over three weeks, pitching a clean eighth inning allowing a hit while striking out two. Engelmann came in to pitch the ninth, putting the Bombers away in order on five pitches. Serbantez gets the win on the night running his record to 3-0 on the season.
The Generals return home for a two-game series against the Acadiana Cane Cutters Friday night with a Free ticket Night presented by Caterpillar. No ticket necessary!!! Saturday night with be Bark at the Park presented by Northside Ranch Pet and Garden Center. Dogs are welcome to enjoy the game at Riverside Stadium. Gates open at 6pm for both games with Happy Hour on the Compadres Party Deck until first pitch.
