The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League are pleased to announce the hiring of their new general manager, Blake Koch. Koch joins the General’s front office after serving as the team’s assistant coach during their inaugural season, helping lead the team to a regular season championship with a record of 32-16.
“I am excited about the opportunity to help continue to build this franchise into one of the premier summer collegiate baseball organizations in the country,” Koch said. “The city of Victoria really latched onto our team this past summer, and I am looking forward to helping make that bond within the community grow even stronger.”
The General’s new GM is a recent graduate of Hardin-Simmons University where he received his Master of Education Degree in Sports and Recreation Management while serving as a graduate assistant baseball coach for two years. Koch also had a successful playing career at HSU, earning accolades as an All-Conference catcher in the American Southwest Conference his junior and senior year.
Before attending Hardin-Simmons, Koch played for General’s head coach, Chris Clemons, at McLennan Community College. Koch and Clemons will be teaming up yet again to build the General’s roster for the 2010 summer season in the upcoming months. Clemons has signed a two year contract extension with the Generals.
Koch will also work alongside Brad Haynes, the team’s advisor, to bring in the highest level of talent from across the country to play in Victoria during the summers.
“Our goal here in Victoria is to sign the top collegiate baseball players in the nation that have professional caliber talent,” Koch said. “We want our fans to come watch young men that have the ability to play at the professional level someday.”
Season tickets for the General’s 2010 summer season will go on sale November 1. General’s fans can purchase their tickets at the team store located at 3708 N. Navarro in the Landmark Shopping Center or online at www.victoriagenerals.com.
