Victoria, TX – The Victoria Generals sported purple jerseys, socks, and hats in support of Alzheimer’s awareness tonight in their matchup against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. The Generals held an auction following the game to auction off the jerseys that the players wore. One hundred percent of the profits went to the Alzheimer's Association.
Garrett Alexander (Texas A&M–Kingsville) started for the Generals on the mound tonight. The usual closer got his first start of the season for the team, and perform well. Alexander allowed only two earned runs on 4 hits. He also struck out three Cane Cutters in his 6 innings pitched. University of Houston Victoria pitcher, Jonathan Jimenez, relieved Alexander and closed out the game. Jimenez struck out four batters while only walking 1. He threw the final three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs.
Luis Vargas (MidAmerican Nazarene) was two for four at the plate tonight with 1 RBI. Right fielder, Chase Evans (Tyler JC ), was also two for four on the night with 3 runs batted in. Parker Osburn (Rice University) was perfect at the plate tonight, going two for two with 2 walks and a RBI.
The Generals and Cane Cutters will close out their two game series tomorrow night at Riverside Stadium. The gates will open at 6:05 PM, and happy hour will run until first pitch at 7:05 PM. The Generals currently sit at 27 wins and 16 losses on the season, and 11 wins and 7 losses during the second half of the season.
