Victoria, TX – In a game that was knotted up throughout the entire night, an extra innings single boosted the Generals to victory. The Victoria Generals faced the Texas Marshals for game one of the series tonight, and came out victorious with a score of 3-2.
Kyle Backhus started for the Generals. Backhus gave up only two hits and one earned run while striking out four batters in his five innings pitched. Kyle Rogers relieved Backhus, and threw for two innings. Rogers struck out one batter and allowed one run. Zach SMith and Garrett Alexander pitched the rest of the innings for the team, and allowed zero runs between the pair. Alexander Struck out three batters in the top half of the final inning.
The Generals had six hits on the night, and two of them came from Arkansas catcher Brady Disher. Disher’s first hit came earlier in the game with two outs, he delivered a two RBI single. Giancarlo Servin had the final hit of the night. There was one out in the bottom half of the 11th innings, with runners on second and third. Servin hit a line drive to the right centerfield gap, and the winning run came in to score.
The Generals and Marshals will play the final game of the series tomorrow night at 7:05 PM. There will be free admission to the game sponsored by Caterpillar. No tickets are necessary to come to the game, and gates will open at 6:05 PM.
