Generals Remain Hot Beating the Bombers
June 12, 2018 – Victoria Generals would head out on the road to Brazos Valley as they would begin one of their longest road trips of the season (10 games) for a two game series against the Bombers. The Generals would score first and hold on for a 7-4 victory, winning six of the past seven games.
Generals get things going early in the first as Michael Williams is hit by a pitch and Jeffries draws a walk. A wild pitch will move Williams to third and Jeffries to second. Zach Howard will ground out to score Williams as the Generals would take a 1-0 lead. Pitcher Kyle Backus would retire the side as the Generals would take that 1-0 lead to the second inning.
The Generals would be retired in order in the top of second. The Bombers would get things going with a lead-off double by Robin Adames and a walk by former General Sam McElreath. Zach Iverson would hit a sacrifice fly to left scoring Adames to even the score at 1-1 heading to the top of the third.
The Bombers would take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth after a walk, pass ball and a wild pitch would put a runner at third with one out. Dylan Gardner would hit a single to score the run for the Bombers.
Generals would lead off the sixth with a Jeffries single driving Bombers pitcher Jesse Heikkinen from the game. Nick Barns would walk to advance Jeffries to second. Cam Coursey would single to score Jeffries to even the score at 2-2.
Generals would head to the top of the seventh with a lead-off double by Parker Osburn. O’Neal Lochridge would walk bring up Dominic Cox who would lay down a bunt that would be overthrown at first scoring a pair of runs putting Cox on third. Generals would take a 4-2 lead heading to the top go the eight.
Generals would stay hot scoring a pair of runs in the eight on a Yaniel Ramos double to score Zach Howard and Cam Coursey to run the score to 6-2. Bottom of the eight, Bombers would score a run and load the bases as closer Garrett Alexander would come in with two outs to get an infield popup to end the Bombers rally as they would only score one run to run the score to 6-3 heading into the ninth.
Top of the ninth the Generals would continue to add to the score as Williams would hit a triple off the wall and Jeffries would hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring Williams. Generals would take a 7-3 lead to the bottom of the ninth as Alexander would allow a run but would slam the door for the Generals as they would win the game 7-4. Matthew Swick would get with win pitching 2.1 innings and Alexander would get his second save in as many appearances.

It will be Victoria College Night at the Park as well as Thirsty Thursday with $1 draft been all game long on the Compadres Party Deck.
