April 09, 2018 – With the 2018 Texas Collegiate League season just six weeks away, the Victoria Generals continue to finalize their roster as they begin their 10th season in the Texas Collegiate League. This week, the Generals have announced the addition of two players from Rice University and one from the University of Arkansas. Outfielder Dominic Cox and catcher Parker Osburn, from Rice, and 1B/Catcher Brady Disher from Arkansas will take the field as the Generals start their season in late May.
Dominic Cox, a freshman from Richmond, TX, will bring his speed to the top of the Generals line-up. Cox was a standout at Travis High School in Fort Bend County and helped lead the Tigers to a 32-8 record, district championship, and a deep postseason run to the Regional Semifinals of the state tournament as a senior in 2017. Cox was a Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American as well as a Texas-All Region 1st Team selection. Cox has appeared in 29 games (23 starts) for the Rice Owls thus far this Spring.
Parker Osburn, a freshman from League City, TX, will be behind the plate this season for the Generals. Osburn was a standout catcher from Clear Creek High School as a senior and was selected First Team All-District 24-6A, Preseason All-Greater Houston team as well as Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-America. Osburn is coming off an injury and is now ready to begin playing for the Rice Owls.
Brady Disher, a freshman from Trophy Club, TX, will appear at 1B/Catcher this season for the Generals. Disher was the 17th ranked catcher in the state of Texas by Perfect Game and was also named a 2017 Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American and Texas All-Regional Second Team.
"This our 5th consecutive season with a player from the University of Arkansas and we are excited to have Disher be a part of our team," commented Mike Yokum, Generals Vice President and General Manager. "Jack Kenley did an outstanding job last Summer from Arkansas and we feel strongly that Disher will follow in his footsteps."
