February 8, 2017 – With the 2017 season less than four months away, the Victoria Generals continue to add players that will help them on their quest for another league championship. This week, the Generals have announced the addition of three players from the Stephen F. Austin. Stevie Thompson, Seth Campbell and Aaron Cardona will all take the field when the Generals begin play for their Ninth season in late May.
Stevie Thompson, a junior transfer from Cowley College in Wichita, KS, will look to solidify his spot in the outfield with the Generals this Summer. Thompson had an outstanding sophomore season appearing in 60 games and helping Cowley College to a record of 44-18 and an automatic berth in the NJCAA Division I World Series in Grand Junction, CO. Thompson batted .330 with an on-base percentage of .486, scoring 69 runs (team leader), 33 RBI's, 17 extra base hits to go along with 15 stolen bases. Thompson was also strong on the defensive side with a team leading fielding percentage of .990.
Seth Campbell, a sophomore left-handed pitcher, will look to bolster the Generals pitching staff this Summer. Campbell had a solid freshman season for SFA as a reliever compiling a record of 3-0 with a team best 3.64 ERA in 25 innings of work. Campbell allowed 17 hits, 11 runs with 18 strikeouts on the season, while holding his opponent to a team low .189 batting average against.
Aaron Cardona, a freshman left-handed pitcher from Kingsville, will join the Generals pitching staff this Summer. Cardona was a standout from Bishop High School in Kingsville where he was a starter his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. As a sophomore, Cardona was a District 31-3A Newcomer of the Year following that season. Cardona had another strong junior season where he was named to Texas State Championship All-Tournament Team. As a senior, Cardona wrapped up his high school career with another outstanding season and was chosen as the District 31-3A MVP as well as First Team All-South Texas as a pitcher.

The Generals will begin their season on May 26th as they travel to Texarkana before returning to Victoria for their home opener on Sunday, May 28th at Riverside Stadium at 7:05 pm.
