YOUNGSVILLE, La. - For the second night in a row, the Victoria Generals held off the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
The Generals (8-7 in second half) defeated the Cane Cutters 5-4 in Texas Collegiate League play Saturday to sweep the series.
Levi Zents went 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Generals, while Jonathan Artigues and Sam Wheatley each added two hits.
Down 3-0 after two innings, the Generals responded with a three-run third. Artigues advanced to second on a double, scored on Zents' base hit, and the Generals got two more runs from Zents and Nick Anderson.
The Generals took the lead in the fourth before adding an insurance run in the sixth. Cobie Vance's unearned run in the seventh cut the lead for the Cane Cutters, but Lance Moszkowicz worked the ninth for the save.
Riley Cooper got the win, striking out three, walking two in 62/3 innings of work.
The Generals return home for a two-game series against the Woodlands Strykers starting Sunday.
