YOUNGSVILLE, La. - The Victoria Generals got a much-needed win, but needed an extra inning to seal the deal.
The Generals scored five runs in the top of the 10th inning to defeat the Acadiana Cane Cutters 7-2 in Texas Collegiate League action at Fabacher Field on Friday night.
With the win, the Generals (7-7 in second half) snapped their three-game losing streak.
Nick Anderson smacked an RBI single, Pedro Barrios hit a two-run single, Mac Odom and Jonathan Artigues had a bases-loaded walk to give the Generals a 7-2 lead in the 10th.
Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Artigues went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Barrios went 1-for-5 with an RBI for the Generals.
Lance Moszkowicz picked up the win for the Generals, giving up a hit and no runs, while striking out two in two innings.
The game was scoreless until the eighth inning.
Levi Zents smacked a single, and Sam Mahofski scored on a passed ball for the first run of the game.
Anderson laced an RBI single to give the Generals a 2-0 lead.
The Cane Cutters tied the score at 2 on Cobe Vance and Kyle Mendenhall RBI groundouts.
Both starting pitchers battled back and forth.
Generals starting pitcher Tanner Driskill had a quality start, giving up five hits and no runs in 62/3 innings of work, while striking out six. Cane Cutters starters Mathew White gave up two hits and no runs in six innings of work, striking out one.
The Generals will wrap up the two-game series Saturday.
