Generals Sweep Marshals
The Victoria Generals start the season on the right foot as the Generals sweep the Texas Marshals on Saturday’s doubleheader.
The Generals’ first game went into extras as the Generals scored three runs to tie the Marshals in the bottom of the seventh and eventually win in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth 4-3.
The Generals continued their success from the first game to the second game as the Generals scored six runs, and beat the Marshals 6-4.
Sam Mahofski was a combined 6-8 with three RBIs and Chace Sarchet with a walk-off triple in the first game were major factors in the Generals’ victory.
The Generals started two Victoria natives Kyle Craft and Michael Brewer as starting pitchers for both games. Tanner Driskill and Lee May Gonzales also closed out each game, including Driskill getting the first win of the year followed by Brewer winning the second game.
The Generals look to keep up their success Sunday as The Generals visit the Marshals for a doubleheader Sunday starting at 5 p.m.
The Generals return back to Riverside Stadium Tuesday as they take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters, first pitch will start 7:05 p.m. Tuesday’s game is also free ticket Tuesday compliments of Citizens Medical Center and Citizens Healthplex. Gates open at 6 p.m. with happy hour on the Compadres Design Party Deck. Draft beer will be half-price until first pitch.
