I would like to take a moment and thank the nice people of Victoria for their support of The Victoria Generals of The Texas Collegiate League. This season has been one that surpasses our highest of expectations, both on the field and in the community.
I would like to thank Head Coach Chris Clemons and Assistant Coach Blake Koch for their undivided attention to our players. The guidance and concern you have shown is to be commended.
For many fans that have ventured into our team shop you have undoubtedly had the pleasure of working with Debbie, Kim, Katie,Erica and Brianna. I want everyone to know that this season's business affairs went smoothly because of them.
I would like to say 'thank you" to our host families. You have opened up your homes to complete strangers and made them feel welcome. That plays a huge part in the success of collegiate leagues, and you deserve credit for our success.
I would like to take a moment to thank the business community that stepped up and asked "how can we help you?" From the American Inn and Suites to Chik Fil A, to Don Brubaker and Ross Kinnaird at Channel 25, and to Mike Forman and Jack Molitor at the Advocate. Your assistance has been over and above.
This city is very fortunate to have the likes of The Friends of Victoria Baseball. What they have accomplished in the rejuvenation of Riverside Park's stadium is a true gift to all.
A HUGE thank you to Jennie and Al Crable for stepping up and marvelously handling the concession stand and all that comes with that service. A big part of fun at the park is great food, and our fans loved the menu.
I would like for everyone to know that we are excited about The Generals 2010 season and many years to come. We will begin to sell next year's season tickets in November (at 2009 prices!) The prices for 2010 will be set for the summer beginning in March. So I encourage you to buy early.
Finally, and I saved it for last, because what these players have accomplished is truly remarkable. A little over 60 days ago about 30 young men came to town and put on The Victoria Generals uniform. Strangers all, but today as brothers, they can call themselves Texas Collegiate League Champions. For an expansion franchise to accomplish such a feat is almost unheard of in summer collegiate league circles. Their unselfish play, their commitment to each other, and their outstanding baseball talent will be remembered for years to come. I say "Thank You, guys" it has been a gratifying summer!
Sincerely
