The 2015 Victoria Generals wrapped up their season this past weekend with a record of 35-19 which was good for second best in the league. While the Generals came up a bit short of their goal of TCL Champs, there was plenty of great things for the Generals to hang their hats on. 2015 marked the second season that the Generals have held jersey auctions to benefit organizations within our community. In 2014, the Generals raised $18,500 for Warrior's Weekend and Guardians of the Ribbon. New for 2015, the Generals added a purple jersey to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
Our first auction of the season was held on July 1st to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Our sponsor of the event, Senior Helpers, reached out to several other businesses in the community to help cover the cost of the jerseys. Twin Pines and Rogers Home Medical stepped up to make this event happen. Our top jersey of the night was Travis Jones (#26) going for $450.00. The event was a success bringing in $7,000 for the Alzheimer's Association.
Our second jersey auction was held on July 11th as the players and coaches wore these jerseys for two nights. The patriotic American flag jerseys were auctioned off to benefit Warrior's Weekend thanks to our jersey sponsor Dalton Trucking and Crane. In 2014, the auction generated $11,825 and a goal was set to raise $15,000 for the event in 2015. Several local celebrities were called upon to sport jerseys including Don Brubaker and Brother Gary Moses. Top jersey for this event was Braxton Smith (#99) jersey bringing in a record $3,500.00. The event brought in $16,125 for the Warrior's Weekend Organization and showed how well our community supports our troops!
Our final jersey auction was held on August 1st as the players wore PINK jerseys to benefit the fight against cancer thanks to our jersey sponsor Citizens Medical Center. In 2014, this event brought in $6,675 so a goal was set for 2015 at $10,000. Once again, Don Brubaker and Brother Gary Moses were a part of the event to help us Strike Out Cancer. The top jersey for this event was the #16 jersey of Donivan Lopez that went for $2,000.00. Once again, the event was a success raising $11,725.
The three special nights brought in $34,850 for these three organizations and really shows how our fans support these great causes. The Victoria Generals organization would like to thanks everyone for their generosity and look forward to seeing everyone at the ball park in 2016.
