Victoria, TX - Ryan Williams pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits as the Generals took the first game of the two game series against the Texas Marshals 6-0.
After a slow first couple innings, the Generals struck first when Jonathan Reyes and Donivan Lopez scored on a double from Darien Simms. Simms came around to score later in the inning on an RBI ground out from Christian Caudle.
The Generals added a fourth run in the seventh when Simms scored on a wild pitch from Marshals pitcher Carson Childers. Carson Childers was relieved by Parker Jones on the mound in the seventh. Childers allowed six runs on nine hits in his six and a third innings of work.
The Generals added two more runs after the pitching change in the seventh. Pinch hitter Grayson Pratt singled into shallow left field to score Romeo Cortina and Caudle. Williams went home with the win for the Generals, while Childers took home the loss for the Marshals.
The 2015 TCL regular season comes to a close tomorrow night. The Generals will play the Marshals before heading to Louisiana to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters in a one game playoff matchup on Saturday night with the winner advancing to the TCL championship series starting Sunday night. Tomorrow night is also Pepsi night with $1 fountain drinks all night and Fan Appreciation Night at the ballpark. First pitch is at 7:05.
