The Victoria Generals dropped another close contest, falling 6-5 to the East Texas Pump Jacks in 10 innings Thursday in Tyler.
The defeat was the Generals' third one-run loss in their last four games, and all three of losses have come in the ninth inning or later. All three losses were also by a score of 6-5.
The Pump Jacks (22-24) scored the winning run on Trevor Ezell's sacrifice fly.
The Generals fell to 28-19 in the Texas Collegiate League and have lost five games in a row.
Kyle Craft took the loss after allowing one run on two hits in 1 2/3 innings.
Keith Funk went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Generals. Romeo Cortina drove in two runs with a double in the fifth inning.
The Generals trailed 4-3 entering the eighth inning but surged ahead 5-4 on Funk's 2-RBI single.
The Pump Jacks tied the game at 5 in the bottom of the eighth with a single by Hunter Owens.
The Generals will return home Saturday as they take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters and it will be Strike Out Cancer Night presented by Citizens Medical Center. The Generals will be sporting pink jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game with the proceeds going to the fight against cancer. Gates open at 6 pm with first pitch at 7:05.
