Bryan, TX - The Victoria Generals drop game one of their four game road trip 8-1 at the Brazos Valley Bombers. The Bombers patience at the plate paid off for them as they collected 12 walks on the evening and used only five hits to score eight runs. Generals starting pitcher Braxton Smith held the Bombers scoreless into the third inning, but walks would prove costly as the Bombers put three runs on the board to take a 3-0 lead heading to the 4th innings. The Generals bats remained silent as they produced only one hit through the first seven innings of play. The Bombers would continue to tack on runs as they would score in five straight innings to run the lead to 8-0 heading into the 9th. The Generals would finally get things started in the 9th but would come up short as the Bombers would take game one of the series 8-1.
The Generals will look to bounce back in the final regular season match-up with the Bombers at they take the field at 7:05.
The Generals will return home Saturday as they take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters and it will be Strike Out Cancer Night presented by Citizens Medical Center. The Generals will be sporting pink jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game with the proceeds going to the fight against cancer. Gates open at 6 pm with first pitch at 7:05.
