April 22, 2015 – With the 2015 Texas Collegiate League season drawing near, the Victoria Generals have signed several key players to strengthen their roster. Darien Simms, from the University of Arkansas, Jacob Spring, from Southwestern Oklahoma State and Dakota Phillips, from Alvin Community College will join the team as they suit up for the Generals this Summer.

"Arkansas has a fine baseball program and a long standing tradition as one of the top tier D1 organizations in the country and it will be a great partnership for years to come."
Darien Simms, outfielder from Spring, Texas, is a redshirt freshman at the University of Arkansas. Simms, a standout at Northland Christian High School hit .424 with 48 runs scored and had 33 stolen bases in 31 games on the season. Simms set the school record for single season and career stolen bases. Simms is majoring in mechanical engineering.
Jacob Spring, a junior outfielder from Shawnee, OK, joins the Generals from Southwestern Oklahoma State. Spring, a transfer from Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, is in his first season with SWOSU where he has appeared in 41 games, hitting .276 with 10 doubles, 6 triples, 5 home runs , with 20 walks and an on-base percentage of .364 on the season. Spring is currently the team leader in hits, doubles, triples, home runs and slugging percentage thus far on the season.
Dakota Phillips, a freshman catcher from Nacogdoches, Texas, will be behind the plate as the Generals take the field this Summer. Phillips is off to a solid start this season at Alvin community College hitting .286 in 25 games with 9 doubles , 3 home runs, 13 walks and an on-base percentage of .407 on the season. Phillips was a stand-out at Nacogdoches High School where he was a 2013 and 2014 Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American.
The Generals will begin their season on May 28, 2015 on the road against the Acadiana Cane Cutters in Lafayette, LA. The Generals will return home for their home opener on May 30, as they seek revenge against the Brazos Valley Bombers at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium.
