The Generals took on the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the first playoff matchup of the post season. After being swept by the Cutters in their last series, the Generals were out for revenge and a chance to play in the Texas Collegiate League Championship series.
The Generals were on the board early in the contest when Justin Pacchioli tagged up off a ground out and crossed home plate.
A two RBI single hit by Matthew Burks brought home C.J Pickering and Pedro Barrios in the bottom of the 3rd to extend the Generals lead to three.
Connor Barron ended the scoring drought for the Cane Cutters after an error committed by Cedric Vallieres. The scoring would continue when Austin Knight drove in Cameron Dishon to cut the Generals lead to one.
In the 7th inning, starting pitcher Kris Looper was replaced by Ty Schlottman. Looper gave up two runs on four hits and struck out two batters.
Scott Szush relieved Ryan May in the 7th inning. May allowed three runs on five hits. He struck out three batters and walked three.
A RBI single in the 8th hit by Austin Knight tied the game at three a piece.
Alec Sanchez would take his place on the mound in the 8th. Szush allowed no hits and no runs.
Jeff Chesnut would come in to pitch in the 9th inning. Ty Schlottman allowed one run on one hit. He struck out one batter and walked two.
In a fitting fashion, the Generals went in to extra innings with the Cane Cutters. This was the 12th extra inning game of the season.
Armondo Arevalo came in to the game in the 10th inning for Jeff Chesnut. Chesnut allowed no runs on no hits.
Scott Ashford entered the game in the 11th inning. Sanchez allowed no runs on one hit and struck out one batter.
After three grueling innings of scoreless baseball, Pedro Barrios heroically hit a single right up the middle gap to bring home David Paiz, making it a 4-3 victory.
