Victoria, TX - The Generals blow out the East Texas Pump Jacks tonight and split the series by a score of 15-2. Ryan Benitez started on the mound tonight for the Generals going 7 innings, giving up 2 runs, striking out 3 and earning the win. An interesting stat on the night: Only 3 Generals players in the lineup scored less than 2 runs.
The Pump Jacks got on the board first tonight in the Top of the 6th inning, scoring 2 runs from a double, making it 2-0 going into the Bottom of the 6th .
The Generals fired right back in the Bottom of the 6th when Kyle Danford hit a RBI single to score Blake Cooper. The next batter David Paiz then hit another RBI single to score Cedric Vallieres to make it a tie ball game. Pedro Barrios a couple batters later would hit a 2RBI single that scored Kyle Danford and David Paiz to take the 4-2 lead into the 7th.
The Generals started a rally in the Bottom of the 8thinning that would put 11 runs on the board. 6 hits, 5 walks and 1 error would make the score 15-2, which would prove to be too much for the Pump Jacks, as Jeff Chesnut would come in to finish game out on the mound.
