Victoria, TX - Generals defeat the Acadiana Cane Cutters tonight 7-1, as they split the series.
Kris Looper started the game tonight for the Generals going 6 strong innings, giving up only 1 run and striking out 4. A couple Generals that stood out offensively tonight: Kyle Danford went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s, 2 runs scored and a solo homerun. Dayfran Ortiz also had a solo homerun on the night as he went 1 for 3.
The Generals scored first tonight in the 3rd inning, when Kyle Danford hit a RBI single that would score Pedro Barrios, 1-0. Cedric Vallieres came up to bat right after Danford and hit another RBI single, scoring JB Moss to make the score 2-0. A couple batters later, Tanner Hill hit into an RBI fielder's choice that would score Danford, Generals up 3-0. Bryce Only added 2 more runs in the Bottom of the 3rd, when he hit a 2 RBI single to make the score 5-0 going into the 4th inning.
Dayfran Ortiz came up in the Bottom of the 5th inning and delivered a 2 out solo homerun to make the score 6-0 going into the 6th inning. The Cane Cutters would get on the board in the Top of the 6th with a RBI fielder's choice to make the score 6-1. The Generals would fire right back in the Bottom of the 7th with a solo homerun by Kyle Danford, and take a 7-1 lead.
Pitcher Hayden James would come on in the 9th to seal the 7-1 victory. The Generals advance to 6-2 for the second half of the season, and currently sit in first place of the TCL standings.
Generals will be back at Riverside Stadium Tuesday the 15th to face off against rival Brazos Valley Bombers in a two game series. First pitch is at 7:05pm for a City Mortgage Group Free Ticket Tuesday. Fans be sure to come on out for some action packed baseball and don’t miss FREE baseball.
