Lafayette, LA - The Generals played the Cane Cutters in game two of a two game series Wednesday. There were five errors committed by the Cane Cutters this game, lending the Generals the hand they needed to pull one out in Louisiana.
The Cane Cutters jumped in to the lead in the 1st inning when Cameron Dishon and Connor Barron scored on a RBI from Taylor Walker.
The lead continued to grow for the Cane Cutters in the 3rd inning when Connor Barron scored the third run of the game.
The Generals would not be deterred from scoring, and in the 4th inning Matthew Burks knocked in a run and scored off an error, while Blake Cooper scored off an error as well.
Jesse Stallings, the starting pitcher for the Cane Cutters, was replaced by Ryan May. Stallings gave up 3 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 5 strike outs.
The Cutters struck again in the 5th with a RBI from Chance Vincent. The lead was pushed to 4-3.
A pitching change was forth coming in the 5th as Troy Ward replaced Stewart Springer. Springer allowed 4 runs on 5 hits with 1 walk and 2 strike outs.
The lead wouldn’t change again until the 7th inning, when the Cane Cutters first baseman committed an error, allowing Alvaro Rondon to score.
Colton Lee was put in to the game for Ryan May. May allowed 3 runs on 3 hits with 2 walks.
Matthew Burks recorded the RBI when Pedro Barrios crossed home plate in the 8th inning, and when Blake Cooper scored his run, J.B Moss was accredited the RBI.
Armando Arevalo replaced Troy Ward in the 8th inning, as Ward allowed no runs on 3 hits.
Not to be outdone, the Cane Cutters scored two runs in the 8th inning as well. Hunter Wood and Jalen Haskin both crossed the plate to tie the game in the 8th inning.
The Generals would not be beaten on this day. Scott Ashford came in for Colton Lee, and allowed a run to score off the bat of Pedro Barrios RBI to make it 7-6.
Jeff Chesnut came in for Arevalo in the 9th. Arevalo allowed 2 runs on 1 hit and walked 1 batter, as he picked up his 4th win of the season.
The Generals will be back home Thursday, July 3rd to take on the Brazos Valley Bombers. Game starts at 7:35pm, for Victoria Harley Davidson Bike Night. The first 150 fans in attendance will receive a Victoria Generals Bandana. If you ride your bike to Riverside Stadium, you will receive a free General Admission ticket to the game. Bikers can also display their ride on the field for a pregame lap.
