Victoria, TX – Ryan Benitez was sensational on the mound, and Justin Pacchioli continued his tear at the plate, as the Generals bounced back with a 6-1 victory in the series finale over the Texas Marshals.
The Marshals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Following back to back one-out singles, Michael Hoard drove in Carson Shaddy on a sacrifice fly to deep center field.
Brian Portelli continued from where he left off last night and brought in Justin Pacchioli to tie up the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI single.
J.B. Moss would start off a big four run two-out rally for the Generals in the home-half of the fourth with a double to right. Pacchioli drove him in on a triple. Three straight singles from Alvaro Rondon, Kyle Danford, and Portelli provided three more runs. Rondon crossed the plate on an error by the right fielder.
Joe Powell came in to relieve Ross Vance, the Marshal’s starter, after four complete innings. Three of the five runs allowed by Vance would go down as earned.
A second pitching change came to start the seventh inning for the Marshals, with Jonathon Lycan taking over for Powell after two innings of shutout ball.
Benitez set down 15 straight Marshals batters before a two-out single in the eighth.
The Generals tacked on an extra run in the eighth inning. Pedro Barrios led off with a walk and scored on a groundout from Moss.
After eight wonderful innings of pitching by Benitez, Stuart Springer came in to finish it off in the ninth.
