May 08, 2014 – The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League have added three new pitchers to bolster their 2014 pitching staff as opening day draws near. Taylor Hearn and Bryce Welborn from San Jacinto Junior College , and Nolan Trabanino from University of Texas at San Antonio have all signed with the Generals to play this summer.
“Taylor, Bryce and Nolan are all three very talented pitchers,” stated Mike Yokum, the vice president and general manager of the Victoria Generals. “These three guys all have a good chance of playing pro ball in the near future.”
Taylor Hearn, a 6’6” left-hander from San Jacinto Junior College, appeared in 12 games this season with 27 strikeouts in 29 innings of work. Hearn finished up the season with a 3-2 record and a 5.16 ERA. Hearn was drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates in the 22nd round of the 2012 draft and by the Cincinnati Reds in the 36th round in the 2013 draft.
"Taylor is a hard throwing lefty with incredible velocity and ability to get out of innings, "commented Yokum.“He’ll benefit a great deal from getting to work with Coach Burns all summer.”
Bryce Welborn, a 5'10" right-hander also from San Jacinto Junior College, appeared in 11 games this season with a 1-0 record and a 4.50 ERA. Welborn, a freshman, is the hardest thrower on the San Jacinto squad with speeds clocked between 93-96 MPH.
“Bryce has a live arm and the ability to blow pitches by opposing hitters. "commented Yokum. "Control at times is an issue but that helps keep the hitters guessing. Coach Burns is extremely excited to have Bryce and to get a chance to help fine tune his game."
Nolan Trabanino, a 6’4” left-handed pitcher from UTSA, currently is having a strong sophomore season for the Roadrunners. Trabanino has thrown 63 innings in 12 starts this season with a 7-2 record and a 2.56 ERA. He is currently the team leader in wins this season with seven wins.

Trabanino attended Clear Brook High School in Friendswood, TX where he posted a 4-3 record as a senior with a 0.81 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 69.2 innings.
“Nolan has the frame and profile to be a future draft pick,” commented Yokum. “He has a high ceiling and will get a lot of quality game experience for us this summer on the mound.”
