(Victoria, Tx) The winning streak is now 7 ! The Victoria Generals played host to the second place East Texas Pumpjacks Tuesday evening at Riverside Park and the first place team stretched their lead to 5 games with a 12-6 victory.
Blake Ford (Lamar) took the mound and scattered 4 runs in five innings to pick up his second win of the season. Covey Morrow allowed one run in 2.1 innings of work. Trevor Lundgrin got two outs in the eighth to get out of a jam and Zach Nudding closed out the ninth for the win.
James Hipp hit a three run home run in the 8th to put the game on ice for the Generals. It was his second home run of the week. Mark Hudson had a 4 hit, 3 rbi night and Kenny Jackson continued to drive in runs as the Generals scored crooked numbers in 4 innings. Jackson had 4 rbi on the night. In the fourth, Mike Davis had an rbi single and also helped his team with some outstanding defense at first base.
The Generals are off on Wednesday and then embark on their final road trip of the summer. Two games at McKinney Marshalls and two at the Brazos Valley Bombers. Their final home stand is August 5-8 with two games versus the Coppell Copperheads and then the season finale against the BV Bombers.
The Generals record is now 25-12-1. The seven game winning streak matches their longest winning streak of the season when they lost the first game and then reeled of wins in their next seven games.
