The Acadiana Cane Cutters completed a two-game home sweep of the Victoria Generals with a 7-1 win on Wednesday night in Lafayette, Louisiana. With the loss, the Generals fall below .500 for the first time this season with a record of 22-23. They have now lost three games in a row.
The Generals scored first in the game on an RBI double by J.B Moss in the second inning to plate Drew Featherston.
The Cane Cutters then scored seven straight unanswered runs to win the game 7-1.
Zac Vasek took the loss for the Generals, allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings with three strikeouts. Andrew Walker made his Generals debut, pitching the seventh inning. Walker allowed three runs on two hits with one walk and a hit batsman.
Romeo Cortina went 2-for-3 on the night with a walk and two stolen bases to lead the Generals.
With the loss, the Generals fall to 5-10 in the second-half. The Cane Cutters improve to 27-19 overall and 13-3 in the second-half.
The Generals return home on Thursday to begin a four-game home stand at Riverside Stadium in Victoria. The Generals take on the first-place Brazos Valley Bombers on Thursday night at 7:05pm. It will be Thirsty Thursday presented by Beef ‘O’ Brady’s with $1 draft beer on the party deck all game long. Thursday night is also Christmas in July presented by the Victoria Chamber of Commerce. All fans that bring an unwrapped gift valued at $5 or higher to the game will receive free admission. All presents will be donated to Blue Santa. Thursday night is also Junior League Night.
