The Victoria Generals picked up their third Texas Collegiate League weekly award as first baseman Jace Reese was named the Warstic TCL Player of the Week for week seven of the season. A relative newcomer to the Generals, Reese made his presence known in a week shortened by the TCL All-Star Game.
Reese batted .429 in three games and helped lead the Generals to a perfect week with a pair of home runs. He drove in six runs and scored three more while slugging .857 on the week. His 3-for-4 night with a home run on July 11 against the East Texas Pump Jacks helped snap Victoria’s six-game losing skid, and his 2-for-5 outing with a home run versus the Woodlands Strykers on July 14 extended the team’s win streak to four games.
The burly first baseman from Cisco College is now batting .288 on the season with a .442 slugging percentage.
Generals outfielder Jacob Hubert received the same honor back in week two of the season and Generals pitcher Lucas Humpal was named the Warstic TCL Pitcher of the Week back in week three.
Reese and the Generals return to action on Tuesday night to take on the East Texas Pump Jacks at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium. It’s Free Ticket Tuesday presented by the City Mortgage Group. All fans will be let in for free to Tuesday night’s game courtesy of City Mortgage.
