Generals Win Fourth Straight, Blowout Strykers 14-5

The Victoria Generals cruised to their fourth straight win on Sunday night by defeating the Woodlands Strykers 14-5 to complete a two-game series road sweep. Trey Wall picked up the win on the mound tossing six innings and allowing just two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.

Alvaro Rondon and J.D. Stinnett drew back-to-back walks to start the game. Rondon came into score on a J.D. Arrowood double and Stinnett scored on a Jace Reese ground out to give the Generals an early 2-0 lead.

The Strykers cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning before the Generals scored three in the top of the third on a Reese three-run home run. It was Reese’s second home run of the season to make it a 5-1 ballgame.

The Generals added three more runs in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 8-1. Jacob Hubert scored on a wild pitch, J.B. Moss scored on a Stinnett RBI single, and Stinnett came in on an Arrowood RBI single.

Another three-run inning by the Generals in the fifth made it an 11-1 lead. Kyle Thornell came into score on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Stinnett. Romeo Cortina then singled home Hubert before Arrowood drove in another run on an RBI single to plate Stinnett.

A two-run home run by Hubert, his third of the season, made it 13-1 in the sixth inning. The Strykers finally answered back in the bottom of the frame with a single run to make it 13-2.

The Generals got the run back in the seventh as Arrowood came into score on a Jordan Camel RBI double.

After striking out the side in the seventh inning, Zac Vasek allowed a solo home run to Dirk Masters to cut the Generals lead to 14-3. Vasek struck out four batters in two innings of work.

Hayden Vesely pitched the ninth for the Generals, allowing two runs on two hits to make the final score 14-5.

Every starter for the Generals recorded at least one hit in the game. Stinnett, Reese, and Hubert each had two hits apiece. Arrowood, playing in just his second game with the team, went 4-for-6 with three RBIs and a run scored.

With the win, the Generals improve to 21-17 on the season and 4-4 in the second-half. The Strykers fall to 10-28 overall and 1-7 in the second-half.

The Generals will have the day off on Monday before returning home to host the East Texas Pump Jacks on Tuesday night at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium. It will be Free Ticket Tuesday presented by City Mortgage Group. All fans will get in for free on Tuesday night thanks to City Mortgage.
