(Kilgore, Tx) Two nights after a dramatic come from behind extra inning victory over the Coppell Copperheads, and one night after the first game was rained out against the East Texas Pumpjacks, The Victoria Generals found themselves in another extra inning affair. The first of two 7 inning games started at 5 pm Tuesday afternoon in Driller Park.
Blake Ford started and battled through 6 innings keeping the Generals in it with a 4-4 tie. Brian Nephew was huge for the Generals in the early going with 3 rbi. Michael Oros threw a scoreless 7th and in the top of the 8th, the Generals offense erupted for 6 runs highlighted by Joey Kenworthy's tie breaking bases loaded triple. During the the offensive outburst the skies also started to turn against the Generals and the rains began. When the top of the 8th inning was finally over, the Umpires ordered the infield covered. An hour later, even though the rain had stopped, they called the game and announced a 4-4 tie.
The second game was called off as well and the first place Victoria Generals of The Texas Collegiate League headed home for a much needed 3 days off. The TCL defending champions McKinney Marshalls come to town Saturday evening for two games, then The East Texas Pumpjacks are in for two.
The Generals are now 21-12-1 and hold a two game lead over the Pumpjacks.
