Alvaro Rondon - Texas A&M International University
The TCL All-Star Break could not have come at a better time for the Victoria Generals. Having lost the last six games in a row, the Generals will look to rejuvenate the offense and pitching that carried them to a second place finish in the first-half of the Texas Collegiate league season.
The Generals (17-17) have added shortstop Alvaro Rondon from Texas A&M International University to the roster to help finish the season. Rondon led the team with a .309 batting average as a junior this year for the Dust Devils with four doubles, two triples, 15 RBI, 23 runs scored, 23 walks, and 12 stolen bases. Rondon was named to the All-Heartland Conference Second Team for his efforts this season.
The slick fielding infielder is originally from Santiago in the Dominican Republic. Prior to his time at Texas A&M International, Rondon attended Laredo Community College where he played two seasons.
The Generals will take on the East Texas Pump Jacks on Thursday night at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium. Thursday night is VC Night at the Ballpark. All students, faculty, and staff that show a VC ID card at the gate will receive $2 off general admission tickets. It is also Thirsty Thursday presented by Beef ‘O’ Brady’s with $1 draft beer on the party deck all game long.
