The Acadiana Cane Cutters broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning by scoring nine runs en route to an 11-1 win over the Victoria Generals at Riverside Stadium on Friday night.
The Generals got off to a good start as J.B. Moss was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the first inning and came into score on a Hayden Vesely RBI triple to the left-centerfield gap.
The Cane Cutters tied it up in the fourth inning on a Mitchell Nau solo home run to left field off of Generals starting pitcher Toller Boardman.
Boardman was unable to get out of the fifth inning and took the loss on the night as he threw 4.1 innings and allowed six runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. Trey Wall gave up four runs on three hits in 0.2 innings with three walks and one strikeout.
Victor Sanchez picked up the win for the Cane Cutters as he pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on three hits with eight strikeouts.
Moss, Vesely, and J.D. Stinnett each had a hit for the Generals.
With the loss, the Generals fall to 17-15 on the season and 0-2 in the second half. The Cane Cutters improve to 16-16 overall and 2-0 in the second-half.
The Generals will take on the Brazos Valley Bombers in the first game of a two-game series on Saturday night at Riverside Stadium in Victoria at 7:05pm.
