The Victoria Generals lost their third straight game to the Brazos Valley Bombers on Saturday by a final score of 6-2 in Bryan.
For the third straight game the Generals scored first, but were unable to hold onto the lead. Brandon Hannon was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and advanced to third on two stolen bases. Romeo Cortina grounded out to the shortstop to allow Hannon to come into score and give the Generals a 1-0 lead.
Generals starting pitcher Josh Urban had his shortest outing of the season, tossing just 3.2 innings and allowing four runs on six hits with five strikeouts and six walks. He left the game with the Generals trailing 4-1.
Cortina added another RBI in the sixth inning on a single to score J.D. Stinnett who had doubled to make the score 4-2.
The Bombers tacked on two more runs in bottom of the sixth off of relief pitcher Nathan Humpal to extend the lead to 6-2.
Cortina picked up two of the Generals three hits on the night. Stinnet had the other.
With the loss, the Generals fall to 13-8 and the Bombers improve to 18-3.
The two teams will meet again on Sunday night in Bryan for the finale of the series at 7:05pm.
