The Brazos Valley Bombers completed a two-game sweep of the Victoria Generals in Victoria on Friday night with a 3-2 win.
The Generals got on the board in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI double by Mac Seibert to score Hayden Vesely.
The Bombers answered back in the top of the third on an RBI single by Patrick McLendon to make it 1-1.
The Generals reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Brandon Hannon to plate Drew Featherston and make it 2-1.
Horacio Correa tied the game back up for the Bombers in the fifth inning on an RBI single to make it 2-2.
Trey Wall came on in relief of Generals starting pitcher Toller Boardman in the sixth inning with runners on first and second and just one out. Wall induced a 4-6-3 double play ground ball to get out of the jam.
Boardman tossed 5.1 innings on the night and allowed just two runs on three hits with six strikeouts, but did not factor into the decision.
Guillermo Trujillo also turned in a nice outing for the Bombers. Trujillo pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits with 11 strikeouts and four walks, but got a no-decision.
Chase Angelle allowed a single and a walk with two outs in the top of the ninth. Kaleb Keith came on in relief and got a fly out, but Correa hit an RBI single to left field to give the Bombers a 3-2 lead.
Jason Freeman picked up the win in relief for the Bombers tossing 1.2 innings with four strikeouts. Angelle took the loss for the Generals.
Romeo Cortina led the Generals offensive attached with two of the team’s five hits.
With the loss, the Generals fall to 13-7 on the season and the Bombers improve to 17-3.
The Generals will travel to Bryan on Saturday to take on the Bombers in the first game of a two-game road series. It will be the first of six straight road games for the Generals. The Generals do not return home until Saturday, June 29 to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
