The Victoria Generals completed a two-game road sweep of Texas Marshals on Friday night with a 6-3 win. Generals starting pitcher Toller Boardman turned in another solid performance on the mound to pick up his league-leading third win of the season.
The Marshals got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI triple by Konner Kyser.
Aaron Morgan led off the top of the fifth inning with a solo home run, his first of the season, to tie things up at 1-1. J.D. Stinnett drilled an RBI double to score Alex Klonowski to push the Generals ahead 2-1. Frank Cloutier followed up with an RBI double of his own to score Stinnett and make it 3-1. Romeo Cortina then delivered a two-run double to score Cloutier and J.B. Moss to give the Generals a 5-1 advantage.
Cortina got his third RBI of the game on a single to score Moss in the seventh.
The Marshals got a run back in the seventh on a solo home run by Taylor Munden and another on a solo home run ninth by Chabrielle Pizzarro, but that would be it as the final score was 6-3.
Boardman tossed eight innings allowing just two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. Boardman leads the TCL in strikeouts with 22.
Cloutier, Cortina, and Morgan each had two hits apiece to lead the Generals offense.
With the win, the Generals improve to 10-4 on the season and the Marshals fall to 4-10.
The Generals return home on Saturday to take on the Woodlands Strykers at 7:05m at Riverside Stadium in Victoria. Saturday is Hometown Heroes Night. All firefighters, EMS, police officers, active and retired military and health care professionals will be let into the game for free.
