Chris Clemons has resigned as head coach of the Victoria Generals baseball team after three seasons at the helm. Clemons has also stepped down from his post as assistant coach at McLennan Community College in order to accept a new position as the North Texas/North Louisiana Area Scout for the Chicago Cubs.
Clemons went 104-57 over the course of three seasons as the head coach for the Generals in the Texas Collegiate League. Clemons led the Generals to the TCL Championship Series in all three seasons as head coach. The Generals won the TCL Championship in 2010 under Clemons's direction. Clemons was twice named the TCL Coach of the Year, in 2009 and 2010. The Generals fell just short of winning their second TCL title this past summer, falling in the final game of the championship series to the East Texas Pump Jacks.
"The Victoria Generals organization is very thankful for Chris's three years of service as our head coach," said Victoria's GM Blake Koch. "He has impacted many lives here in the Victoria community and he will be truely missed. We wish him the best of luck in his new role with the Cubs."
The Generals will begin a national search to fill the head coaching position for the 2013 season.
