Generals shortstop Brandon Tierney hit his second home run of the season on Saturday night.
The Victoria Generals capped their five-game road trip with a 3-0 shutout of the Brazos Valley Bombers on Saturday night in Bryan.
Jordan Pacheco turned in another solid outing, pitching six inning and allowing just five hits to pick up his league-leading sixth win of the season. Pacheco also struck out three batters to up his season total to 50 which is also good enough for the league lead in the category.
The Generals scored two runs in the top of the forth inning. Alex Klonowski singled home Chad Kruse before Eric Weiss scored on a passed ball.
The Generals made it 3-0 in the top of the seventh as Brandon Tierney blasted his second home run of the season, a solo shot to straight away left field.
Tanner Green relieved Pacheco in the seventh and pitched 1.2 innings, allowing three hits with one strikeout.
Dallas Ponder pitched the final 1.1 innings, recording strike outs for all four outs while giving up just one hit. It was Ponder's fourth save of the season.
Eric Weiss led the Generals offensively, going 3-for-4 on the night with a run scored.
With the win, the Generals improve to *31-21 on the season and the Bombers fall to 33-21.
The Generals will have a day off on Sunday before traveling to Kilgore for a one-game match-up with the East Texas Pump Jacks on Monday night.
