Eric Weiss went 3-for-4 with a double on Wednesday night.
The Victoria Generals offense struggled to find a way to score runs against Brazos Valley Bombers starting pitcher Brandon Easterling on Wednesday night in Bryan. Easterling pitched his way to a complete game win as the Bombers took down the Generals 4-1.
The Generals offense was able to collect eight hits off of Easterling, but could only push across one run on the night. Easterling had five strikeouts in the ballgame.
The Bombers got out to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning off of Generals starting pitcher Dallas Ponder. It was the first three runs that Ponder has given up all season in the Texas Collegiate League, breaking his scoreless innings against streak at 15 innings.
Ponder would pitch just three innings on the night, allowing six hits with one strikeout.
Dillon Newman came on in relief and completed the final five innings on the mound, allowing four hits and striking out six batters. The only run Newman gave up came in the sixth inning on a solo home run by Braden Mattson, his fifth of the season.
The Generals were able to cut the Bombers lead to 4-1 in the seventh as Trent Wagner hit a sacrifice fly to score Trace Knoblauch, but that would be all the Generals could muster against Easterling on the night.
Eric Weiss led the Generals at the plate going 3-for-4 on the night with a double.
With the win, the Bombers improve to 26-19 and the Generals fall to 25-17.
