Dillon Newman has been named the TCL Pitcher of the Week for week six of the season.
Dillon Newman became the third different Victoria Generals pitcher to be named the TCL Pitcher of the Week in just his second start of the season. Newman took the mound against the Brazos Valley Bombers on July 12 and went seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out seven without a walk to pick up the win.
In four appearances and 18 innings pitched, the sophomore right-hander from Baylor has yet to allow an earned run and has 19 strikeouts.
Newman also appeared in the TCL All-Star Game on July 9 and pitched the ninth inning to nail down a 10-2 with for the South squad. Newman struck out all three batters he faced in the inning.
The Generals are off on Tuesday, but return to action for a four-game road trip starting on Wednesday night in The Woodlands against the Strykers at 7:05pm.
