Zak Pitches Generals to 4-1 Win Over Cane Cutters

Bryce Zak notched his 3rd win of the season on Tuesday night as he shut down the Cane Cutters offense

The Victoria Generals returned to action at home on Tuesday night following the TCL All-Star Break and defeated the Acadiana Cane Cutters 4-1 behind a masterful pitching performance by Bryce Zak.

Zak tossed seven innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three batters to pick up his third win of the season.

The Generals broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Trent Wagner to score Trace Knoblauch.

The Cane Cutters tied the ballgame up in the top of the fifth at 1-1.  The score remained tied until the bottom of the seven.  Alex Klonowski reached base on an error and advanced to second base on a wild pitch.  Jude Vidrine was then intentionally walked to put runners on first and second with one out.  Andrew Stumph delivered an RBI single to plate Klonowski to give the Generals the lead.

After back-to-back walks by Knoblauch and Patrick Duncan scored another run, Wanger was hit by a pitch to score Vidrine, making the score 4-1.

Generals closer Tanner Green came into the ballgame and pitched the final two innings to record his fourth save of the season.  Green did not surrender a hit and struck out two batters.

With the win, the Generals improved to 21-10 overall on the season and 2-1 in the second-half.  The Cane Cutters fell to 16-17 on the year.

The Generals homestand continues on Wednesday night as they host the Woodlands Strykers at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium.
