Trace Knoblauch hit his sixth double of the season on Sunday afternoon
With the score knotted at 3-3 on Sunday afternoon in Dallas, Evan Ramsey of the McKinney Marshals launched a two-run walk-off home run to left-field off of Victoria Generals relief pitcher Daniel Tunchez to give the Marshals a 5-3 victory.
The Generals had fought back to tie the game in the top of the eighth inning on back-to-back solo home runs by Eric Weiss and Andrew Stumph.
The Marshals jumped out to an early lead after two innings of pay off of Generals starting pitcher Tyler Schnuriger. Only one of the three runs were earned as the Generals were hurt by two defensive errors in the second inning.
Schnuriger pitched seven innings and allowed just six hits while striking out three.
The Generals did not score their first run until the sixth inning. Weiss and Stumph each singled to get things started. Trace Knoblauch then delivered an RBI double to plate Weiss. With runners on second and third and no outs, the Generals were unable to push any other runs across as Marshals starting pitcher Tyler Hale retired the next three batters he faced.
Weiss led the Generals offensively, going 3-for-4 on the day with an RBI and two runs scored.
With the win, the Marshals improved to 5-19 on the season as the Generals fell to 16-9.
The Generals will travel to East Texas to take on the first-place Pump Jacks in Kilgore on Monday night at 7:05pm. They will then return home to host the Alexandria Aces in a two-game series at Riverside Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday to close out the first-half of the regular season. If the Generals are able to hold onto second place in the first-half TCL standings, they will automatically clinch a playoff berth and be the #2 overall seed in the postseason.
